2015 - NAI Bergman Annual Holiday Food Drive

NAI Bergman Annual Holiday Food Drive

CINCINNATI, OH, December 29, 2015 ‒ NAI Bergman held its 11th annual holiday food drive on December 24th. There were 36 people who joined in supporting a worthy cause; contributing and helping deliver truckloads of food and staple items from a local food distributor to charities that serve the homeless in the Cincinnati area.

“Wanting to help the most needy in our community during the holiday season has continuously grown each year with participants and support; many people taking the time from their busy holiday season to help others; this compassion means so much at this time of year.” said Laurence Bergman

What began years ago as an annual event, with only two contributors, Laurence Bergman and Billy Gillman, has grown to include NAI Bergman associates, clients and friends. Ultimately, our goal is to have others associated with the NAI Global Network to follow what we have done to help the homeless outside of Cincinnati, NAI Bergman has reached out to the NAI Global network with over 400 offices in 55 countries to make this drive a worldwide event to help feed the homeless.

This year, food and other staple items were delivered to The Shelterhouse, Greater Cincinnati’s largest homeless shelter with the items going to both the men and women shelters, as well as the BLOC Ministries of Price Hill.  Billy Gillman and Laurence Bergman are hoping to get others involved in this effort as there are a multitude of shelters needing help.

Medley, who performed as one half of The Righteous Brothers with partner Bobby Hatfield (who passed away in 2003), sang songs “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’,’’ “Unchained Melody,” “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life (from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, which he sang in duet with his 28-year-old daughter, McKenna Medley), “(You’re My) Soul and Inspiration,” and more.

Activities Beyond the Classroom and its Executive Director, Brian Leshner, joined the effort.  "Activities Beyond the Classroom supports Cincinnati Public School students with diverse extracurricular activities that complement their academic career building.  We are excited to have Bill Medley, a musical overachiever and legend, support ABC and the District. Funds raised through ticket sales and the generosity of sponsors will benefit extracurricular activities for SCPA and Cincinnati Public Schools."

The event was presented by NAI Bergman, a commercial real estate development, brokerage and property management firm who has worked with Cincinnati Public Schools for a number of years in selling older school buildings that were replaced with new facilities across the District. "I am working with Bill Medley on real estate development outside of our area.  I asked if he would be interested in helping a charitable cause; would he be willing to perform in Cincinnati.  Bill Medley was most gracious", says Laurence Bergman, President of NAI Bergman. Laurence Bergman, and his partners chose to raise awareness for Cincinnati Public School programs and underwrote bringing the Righteous Brother and his group to Cincinnati to help support charitable giving targeted to benefit CPS students.
